Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, born March 26, 1991, also known professionally under the other name Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and is the first female artist to sign with J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. The first album she released with the label on October 21 2016 titled Pho where she started to gain notoriety. Shea Butter Baby her debut studio release was May 7th 2019. Ari Lennox uploaded her music to the internet in 2012, when she dropped her Five Finger Discount mixtape and Ariography EP in 2013. In 2014, she dropped more music via the Internet including Bound. In 2015, she appeared in Omen's Elephant Eyes album on Sweat it out on July 21st. J. Cole had her submit her tracks for the Dreamville Team later in the year, as he wanted Rihanna to be able work together on a few references. It was announced on December 8 that she was signed to Dreamville Records. Backseat was her contribution for the Revenge of the Dreamers II album. In October 21st, 2016 the debut EP of Ari Lennox was released titled Pho. Ari Lennox was a guest on J. Cole's Change, and she performed on her own 4 Your Eyez Only Tour as the opening act. In 2018, she went on to guest feature on two songs with her label-mates EarthGang and EarthGang on Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox, on the 16th of July in 2018 was the first artist to release her single "Whipped Cream" from Shea Butter Baby. A music video came out on the 5th. Her second single Grampa on November 9. On November 13 she then dropped two singles titled No One or Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby. Shea Butter Baby was then able to make appearances in the Creed II album soundtrack alongside Cole. She dropped this single as a way to celebrate her debut album titled Creed II on 26 February 2019. The track was released with a video posted on YouTube February 20, 2019 has been watched over 3 million times in the first 7 days. The singer was a supporting artist for 6LACK in their From East Atlanta With Love Tour in December 2018.
